Hi! My name is Susan Jamison. I started in Education as a teacher in 1988. I taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Then I was a Literacy Coach for 3 years. However, my desire to be a school counselor increased, so I started my Masters in School Counseling and finished my degree in 2005. I have been a Professional School Counselor for 11 years now, and I absolutely love my job. I am the luckiest person in the world to be working with your children!
As a Professional School Counselor, I work with children individually and in groups who may need help with anger, grief, social issues, etc. My philosophy about education is that children need a firm foundation of character education, such as responsibility, respect, trustworthiness, good citizenship, etc., in order to succeed in school and in future jobs. Therefore, I teach character lessons using the district wide program Core Essentials. I understand that I am simply reinforcing what is already taught at home. I believe that character lessons are just as important as reading, writing and math.
My lessons also include anti-bullying messages, personal and stranger safety, anti-drug choices, college and career choices, just to name a few.
If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to call me or send me an email.
